The Sprite Locator is a unique Gizmo that will instantly show you the location of a Buried Sprite Chest that only you can see and find. You might find a Sprite you've yet to claim, or you might get unlucky and find yet another pesky Water Sprite. Below, we'll share details on how to get the Sprite Locator item and how it works to ensure you use it correctly without wasting it!

How to Get the Sprite Locator in Fortnite

The Sprite Locator is exclusive to the Sprite Mastery unlocks. To unlock the Sprite Locator, you will need to have hit Level 5 (Mastery Rank) on 17 Sprites. This shouldn't be too difficult, especially with Quack Snacks providing +1 Level for 1,500 Gold. Just make sure you extract the Max Level Sprite in order to claim its Mastery Rank!

After you have extracted 17 Sprites, three Sprite Locators will be added to your inventory. Sprite Locators cannot be taken by other players and are only lost when you consume them, which we will explain below.

How to Use the Sprite Locator in Fortnite

Once you're in-game, hold Triangle to open your Gizmo Wheel. On the left, you can select the Sprite Locator, which will temporarily replace your Pickaxe. With the Sprite Locator in your loadout, hold R2, and a 3-second countdown will begin. After 3-seconds, a Buried Sprite Chest will be revealed.

Only you can see the location of the Buried Sprite Chest, so don't worry about other players stealing your treasure. However, if you are eliminated, then you lose the Sprite Locator and the Sprite inside the chest!

Follow the marker on your screen, which will show you a blue chest with a hologram of a Sprite above it. The Sprite hologram reveals what Sprite is in the chest, which you can now open by equipping your Pickaxe and hitting the dirt patch to dig it up and claim your Sprite!

The Sprite Locator is different from the Lucky Locator, which is a Gizmo that will guarantee you collect a Sprite that's not in your collection. This item is coming later in the season, and we'll have a guide covering how to get and use it as soon as it drops!
