Jujutsu Kaisen Officially Powers Up The Gojo Clan With New Sorcerer

The Gojo clan is one of the big three clans in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen and is known to be incredibly powerful. At the helm of the Gojo clan was the legendary Satoru Gojo, who was one of the main characters in the series for quite a while.

On September 24, 2023, in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 236, Satoru Gojo met his end, and following this major event, the Gojo clan underwent a massive upheaval. While many believed the Gojo clan would perish alongside the Zenin and the Kamo clans, it has persevered and has only gotten even stronger in the future. In the Jujutsu Kaisen sequel series by Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki, titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo, the Gojo clan now has new sorcerers, and among them is a mighty individual strong enough to rival Gojo himself. This individual is none other than Gojo's very own protégé — Yuta Okkotsu.

Jujutsu Kaisen prequel titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0 set up Yuta Okkotsu as the protégé of Gojo Satoru. Initially, Gege Akutami was even considering making Yuta the main character of the series, but later he changed his mind. Regardless, Yuta was always going to be a massively important character in the overarching plotline of Jujutsu Kaisen, and that is clear to see in the story, especially in the last segment focusing on Shinjuku Showdown. At the end of Shinjuku Showdown, Yuta Okkotsu stepped up massively alongside the likes of Yuji Itadori in helping defeat Ryomen Sukuna. When Sukuna was eventually defeated, Yuta ended up playing an even bigger role in the story.

It was confirmed in Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 30, which was officially released on December 24, 2025, that Yuta Okkotsu had become the acting head of the Gojo clan after the death of Gojo Satoru. This came as a shock to many fans, especially because Yuta was not from the Gojo clan, to begin with. That said, Gege Akutami set up various connections between the two that could explain why Yuta was chosen as the next Gojo clan leader. Given his incredible strength, Yuta became the new face of the Gojo Clan and revived it completely later down the line by marrying Maki Zenin and having Iori Okkotsu, yet another powerful member of the Gojo Clan. Iori eventually went on to have Yuka Okkotsu and Tsurugi Okkotsu, who stand as the new generation face of this legendary clan in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Gojo Satoru was incredibly powerful, and there is no denying that. In the modern era, he was the absolute strongest, and even when considering the past sorcerers such as Sukuna, Gojo was neck and neck with him. In fact, the only reason that Gojo lost the duel of the strongest was that he let his guard down at a key moment, as confirmed by Gege Akutami himself. In reality, this was simply a way for Gege to move the plot forward because without Gojo's death, the story of Jujutsu Kaisen could not be completed. As such, Gojo's death was a necessity that did not necessarily stem from his own inferiority to Sukuna, but from the need to fulfil the overarching plot line.

A: "Sometime after Kusakabe said he won. The reason he was cut down was also that he had let his guard down after destroying Mahoraga. By this point, Gojo thought Sukuna no longer had a way to bypass Limitless. Perhaps Gojo, under normal circumstances, would've been able to sense it and narrowly avoid fatality.”

Regardless, the Gojo Clan became even stronger after the death of Satoru, and this is especially highlighted by the fact that Yuta Okkotsu went on to reach sky-high levels in his prime. It is stated in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 18, which was officially released on January 19, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #8, that Yuta had insurmountable amounts of cursed energy.

We already knew Yuta's cursed energy reserves were massive, and even greater than those of Gojo; however, by adulthood, it seems that his cursed energy reserves are immeasurable and potentially even greater than those of Sukuna. Furthermore, Yuta poured so much cursed energy over multiple years into the Rika Ring that idle transfiguration could be used over the entirety of Japan, which is a shockingly massive feat.

Furthermore, Rika's fusion power, which was showcased in Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo, allowed her to produce slashes so powerful that they could rival the strongest Dismantles produced by Yuji Itadori in his prime. These slashes were way bigger than any Dismantle produced by Ryomen Sukuna. The fact that Yuta was even stronger could potentially put him in the same league of strength as Sukuna and Gojo, or make him even stronger.

Another interesting thing to note is that Yuta Okkotsu might potentially have taken the Limitless with him when he transferred back to his body. As confirmed by Ryomen Sukuna in JJK Chapter 230, on July 31, 2023, cursed techniques are engraved in the right prefrontal cortex of the brain, and every time Kenjaku jumped bodies, he had the curse technique engraved on his brain, which he then took with him to a new body. In the case of Yuta Okkotsu, the same logic should apply, which means that he should still have had access to Limitless even after going back to his body. This, yet again, explains why Yuta was chosen as the next head of the Gojo Clan in Jujutsu Kaisen.

While Yuta became the next face of the Gojo Clan and potentially surpassed even Satoru himself in the years to come, following the Shinjuku Showdown, there is a new face of this clan now in the future. This is none other than Yuka Okkotsu. Tsurugi Okkotsu is also important, but at the end of the day, he is more of a replacement for Maki Zenin. Meanwhile, Yuka is the true replacement for Yuta. What's interesting to note is that she can use the power of the Ten Shadows Technique. Yuka having the Ten Shadows means that she has a shot at taming Mahoraga. In her case, this is possible due to the power that Rika has at her disposal.

She's also blessed with the strongest version of Mahoraga, who has also adapted completely to light-speed attacks and incredibly potent light-based powers, as confirmed by Gege Akutami on May 1, 2026, in Modulo Volume 3. Given that she is able to tame this Mahoraga in the future, Yuka is going to be especially powerful and strong enough to rival even the elites like Gojo and Sukuna. The future of the Gojo Clan looks incredibly bright in Jujutsu Kaisen, and we absolutely cannot wait to see what comes next for them.
