Moonlight Peaks: A Missing Moon Walkthrough

A dedicated PC gamer and a firm believer in Keyboard/Mouse supremacy, he will play Tekken with WASD if you let him. Although he considers himself a PC loyalist to the bone, he has a weakness for anything Nintendo. While he mainly enjoys RPGs, he is open to trying new things and exploring different genres, especially indies with cool ideas.
When he’s not bent over a keyboard, he’s reading fantasy novels, discovering obscure podcasts, experimenting with home-brewed coffee concoctions, and trying to convince his dad that his career is, in fact, a real job.
In the “A Missing Moon” quest in Moonlight Peaks, the moon gets stolen by a mysterious entity, the town becomes engulfed in eternal darkness, and the Moon Goddess falls seriously ill.
To get things back to normal, players will have to find the missing moon, confront the culprit who stole it, and help the Moon Goddess restore the moon to its rightful place in the sky. Oh, and light some candles for Orlock in the meantime so that he can see how to get back to his house after a night out on the town.
A Missing Moon in Moonlight Peaks Overview
After Saga is elected mayor in the Elections by Moonlight quest, the Khazan family seers will start slipping into curious trances over the next few days, in the “Seeing Seers” quest.
After all three of the Khazans enter trances one after the other, Death will become uneasy and invite you to the Khazan Temple to solve things once and for all. There, all three Khazans will enter a trance at the same time, and the Moon will disappear from the night sky, triggering “A Missing Moon.”

All 10 Candle Holder Locations in A Missing Moon
Orlock will ask you to place 10 candles around the town so that people don’t trip and fall in the darkness like he did. The table below shows all 10 candle holder locations.
| Candle Holder | Location |
|---|---|
| | Southwest of the Town Hall, directly north of Saga’s boat house. |
| | West of the Town Hall, just north of the stairs that lead to the Museum, next to the Crest Garden’s entrance. |
| | Southeast of the Town Hall, next to the river. |
| | East of Noel’s House. |
| | Next to The Broken Lamp. |
| | Next to Elvira’s House. |
| | West of Peaksview Park, behind Third Eye Threads. |
| | South of Howling Hammer. |
| | Next to the southern entrance to Moonlit Pines, near the broken bench. |
| | Next to the entrance to Howling Marshes, in the top right corner of the town. |
After all 10 candles have been placed, visit The Broken Lamp to trigger a cutscene with Orlock, where he asks you to remove the stone he tripped over in the graveyard in the Misty Shores.
Gather the Moon Fragments

Visit the Misty Shores, and a cutscene with Elvira and Death will trigger, where they discuss what to do with the curious-looking rock Orlock tripped over. After confirming that the rock is somewhat special, Elvira asks you to visit the Pink Grove, where she heard a second rock is located. After the conversation is over, you’ll obtain Moon Fragment #1.
Visit the Pink Grove by swimming northeast in Luna Bay to trigger a second cutscene with Llemi and Elvira, where you obtain Moon Fragment #2.
Elvira will then direct you to head to Moonlit Pines, where she heard another stone had been found. Follow Elvira to Moonlit Pines to trigger another cutscene with Elvira, Ludo, Evan, and Winston, where you will get Moon Fragment #3.
Find the Moon’s Hiding Place
Bring the Moon Fragments to the Khazan Temple, and you’ll be able to revive the Moon Goddess for a brief period, where she will tell you to follow the trail with a body that’s “wholly your own.” What she is referring to here is the Hellkitten form.

Transform into a Hellkitten and exit the Khazan Temple. You’ll see a faint golden light trail leading you westward. Follow the light trail in your Hellkitten form, and it will guide you to the Cave of Echoes in the Misty Shores (where you mine Copper, Iron, and Gold Ore).
Keep following the trail in the Cave of Echoes, and you’ll reach a large boulder with glowing sun patterns, blocking a doorway. When you approach, a cutscene will trigger where Elvira will suggest you find Sabrina or Noel to destroy the boulder with magic, since your own magic is not enough.

Find Sabrina and ask her for help. She’ll agree. Then, return to the boulder wall in the Cave of Echoes, and Sabrina will destroy the wall for you with magic, unlocking the entrance to the Lost Moon Alcove.
Convince the Sun God to Return the Moon
Enter the Alcove to discover the culprit: the Sun God. It turns out that the Sun God was feeling lonely and got jealous of the Moon Goddess for all the love she seemed to receive from the people.
The Sun God will trap you in the Lost Moon Alcove. To get out, repeatedly approach him to trigger dialogue over and over again. Eventually, a cutscene will trigger where the Moon Goddess and the Khazans arrive.
After a long heart-to-heart, the Sun God will acquiesce and return the Moon to the Moon Goddess. This will complete the “A Missing Moon” quest and also trigger a short follow-up quest called “The Moon in the Sky,” where the Moon Goddess will formally invite you to her residence, the Moonlit Slopes, and return to the Moon to its rightful place in the sky, finally returning the world to the way it used to be.
You will not be able to visit the Moonlit Slopes again until you unlock the Bat form during the quest “Master of the Night.”
