The Sims 4 Is Finally Adding a Feature Fans Have Wanted for 12 Years

Nearly 12 full years after its release, The Sims 4 is finally adding the highly requested feature of automatic saves to the game. The new feature will arrive in an upcoming update for The Sims 4, along with some additional improvements that players may be pleased to hear about.
Losing a save in any game can be devastating, but Sims 4 fans may have it worse in some respects. While losing a save after beating a boss in a game, for example, means having to fight it all over again, myriads of occurrences can happen over a short period of time in The Sims 4. If a player forgets to save or the game crashes, trying to replicate everything their Sims did during that time may be next to impossible, leading to important moments in their Sims' history simply disappearing forever.
The Sims 4 Is Finally Getting AutoSaves

The Sims 4 has unveiled its newest Laundry List, and teased some of the new features and fixes that are coming to the game on July 21, including an AutoSave function. EA says that AutoSave, when enabled, will automatically create save points when doing things like changing lots, after specific milestones, or if a player has simply been in the game for long enough without saving. Gamers who want to maintain control over their game saves will instead have the option of enabling a reminder that pops up to alert them that a certain amount of time has passed and that they should save. In both cases, gamers can customize when the game saves or alerts the player.

The Sims 4 Memory Boost feature that was previously added to the game in early access will also be rolling out to all eligible players at the same time. Gamers on PC, Macs, and even consoles will be able to make use of the Memory Boost, which is designed to help improve how The Sims 4 manages memory. In theory, it should lead to a better experience with less lag and fewer crashes. EA says that gamers with large households, heavily-decorated lots, and save files they've been carrying for a long time will see the biggest improvements.
While many fans are likely to be happy to hear that these features are about to launch, some will probably still be frustrated that it took so long for it to happen. Having to wait a decade for an AutoSave function certainly may seem excessive. However, The Sims 4 isn't the only long-lasting game that's experienced something like this. Fellow over-decade game Minecraft is adding the ability to sit down, and it took even longer than adding auto saving in The Sims 4, as fans have been asking for the feature for 17 years.
While these new additions to The Sims 4 will be arriving in July, EA is already looking ahead to its future updates, as well. The next quality of life update for The Sims 4 is scheduled for September, in which EA will be tackling Sim autonomy. EA claims that Sims will behave more consistently, with better responsiveness. More details will be revealed closer to that update's release date, so players may be able to look forward to learning more in August or early September.
