Apple released iOS 27 beta 2 today, giving developers the first follow-up update since iOS 27 debuted at WWDC. The new beta is available now for registered developers ahead of next month’s expected public beta release.

iOS 27 is a major iPhone update centered around Siri AI, Apple Intelligence, Liquid Glass refinements, and a long list of quality-of-life changes. Here’s what we’ve found so far in iOS 27 beta 2.

iOS 27 beta 2 details

iOS 27 beta 2 is available now for developer beta testers. The build number is 24A5370h.

You can install the update by opening the Settings app, choosing General, then Software Update. From there, make sure iOS 27 Developer Beta is selected under Beta Updates.

As with any early beta, we do not recommend installing iOS 27 beta 2 on a primary iPhone. You should expect bugs, battery life issues, app compatibility problems, and other rough edges until Apple gets closer to the fall release.

iOS 27 beta 2: What’s new?

Here are some changes we’ve found in iOS 27 beta 2 so far.

  • Apple Wallet brings Insights feature to more regions for more cards.
  • ‘Write with Siri’ suggestion now populates on iPhone and iPad software keyboard, replacing Writing Tools.
  • Siri AI performance feels faster for early testers.
  • Siri’s Expressive Voice Preview feature now lists Pace and Expressivity as “coming soon” in beta 2.
  • iPhone Mirroring between iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate appears more reliable after beta 1 crash issues. This includes resizing apps and automatically returning to iPhone size.
  • AirPods Max 2 can now update firmware, resolving the known issue with beta 1.

In general, iOS 27 beta 2 continues to feel much further along than most iOS developer betas at this point. That’s likely because stability is a key feature of iOS 27. Still, your mileage may vary, and not every app is guaranteed to support the new system at this point.

Not every iOS 27 feature is available on every iPhone. The update supports iPhone 11 and later, plus iPhone SE 2 and newer, while Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features require newer hardware.

Apple will continue beta testing iOS 27 throughout the summer. A public beta should arrive in July, followed by the official release for everyone in September alongside the new iPhone lineup.
