Verdant Impact Nets $3 Mn To Scale AI-Led Livestock Management Platform

Bovine genetics-focussed agritech startup Verdant Impact has raised $3 Mn (about ₹27 Cr) in a seed round led by Unicorn India Ventures. The round also saw participation from Infynyte Club, Yash Kotak (founder, Jumper.ai), Alok Soni (Mud House Capital), and ICAR-NAARM’s startup incubator a-IDEA NAARM (Association for Innovation Development of Entrepreneurship in Agriculture).

The raised capital will be utilised to enhance the startup’s R&D capabilities, advance its Pashu.AI platform, expand its team as well as upgrading existing tech infrastructure with blockchain

The Jaipur-based startup also plans to deploy a portion of the funds toward expanding its presence across North and North-East India.

Founded in 2020 by Maya Zeph and Manish Kumar, Verdant Impact is building a one-stop platform for animal husbandry and livestock management. At its core, the startup aims to bring modern technology to rural farmers, helping them manage and grow healthier, more productive livestock using AI, IoT, and biotechnology to enhance genetic diversity, improve animal health monitoring, and boost productivity.

The startup operates two livestock management platforms: livestock health monitoring platform Pashu AI and herd management platform Bharat Pashudhan. The startup also claims to run a Methane mitigation program named India Methane Mission.

The agritech startup claims to have achieved 8X revenue growth since its last round in March 2025 and aims to reach ₹100 Cr in revenue in FY26 while retaining profitability. The startup says it has served over 6 Lakh farmers to date.

“We’ve proven that profitability and social impact can go hand-in-hand—our 8X revenue growth while remaining profitable demonstrates the massive demand for innovation in this sector. With this capital, we’ll accelerate our R&D in climate-resilient genetics, expand Pashu AI’s capabilities, and bring our solutions to millions more farmers across India and beyond,” Kumar said.

The funding round comes at a time when capital flowing into Indian agritech startups has remained under pressure. According to Inc42’s Annual Indian Startup Trends Report 2025, agritech startups raised $202 Mn across 36 deals last year, down 25% from $269 Mn in 2024, and a far cry from the sector’s peak years of 2021 and 2022, when funding had surged to $728 Mn and $840 Mn, respectively.

However, the sector’s long-term fundamentals remain strong. According to the Inc42 & StarAgri Indian Agritech Market Landscape Report 2025, India’s agritech market is projected to expand from $9 Bn in 2025 to $28 Bn by 2030, clocking a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25%. The growth is expected to be driven by AI-led farming and deeptech innovation, even as the broader agriculture sector grows at a steadier pace from $452 Bn to $563 Bn during the same period.
