Vince Gilligan reveals the current status of ‘Pluribus’ season 2
Speaking to Deadline alongside Rhea Seehorn, ‘Pluribus’ creator Vince Gilligan offered an update on the progress of season 2. Here’s what he said.
Gilligan shares update on season 2 status
A few days ago, Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul) sat with Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) for a conversation for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series.
At one point, Cranston asks how long the first season of Pluribus took to shoot, and a very conflicted Seehorn answers “10 to 11 months.” Seehorn is equally cagey when answering how many days each episode took to shoot.
You can watch the exchange below:
In the video, Seehorn appears unsure whether she can reveal that information, beginning to say that “people don’t understand” Gilligan’s process for crafting the show’s episodes before cutting herself off.
That said, Gilligan himself offered some insight into how far along the development of the show’s second season is. Speaking to Deadline, he said:
Well, we’re about a little past the halfway point. My writers and I have figured out the episodes, and it always — every season on every show — starts out hard. And then you just stay with it long enough. I’m starting to get to the point where I’m thinking, I’m looking forward to shooting this, and people seeing it, because I’m kind of digging it.
Although the update disappointed some viewers who had expected season 2 to be further along (perhaps justifying Seehorn’s reluctance to discuss Gilligan’s process), fans can at least take comfort in knowing he is not rushing the show back onto the air, for better or for worse.
The first season of Pluribus aired from November 7 through December 24, 2025, more than three years after it was first announced. At the time, Apple TV ordered two seasons from the outset.
