VinFast unveils VF 2 electric city car, launches it in Vietnam

Vietnamese automaker VinFast has introduced the VF 2 electric city car and launched it first in its home market. The VF 2 is simply a premium version of the Minio Green, part of the company's Green range of commercial and service mobility vehicles.

The VF 2 measures 3.1 metres in length, 1.5 metres in width, and 1.7 metres in height and has a 2.1 metre wheelbase. These dimensions are identical to the Minion Green, and so is most of the exterior design.

VinFast differentiates the VF 2, targeted at private customers, with a body-coloured faux upper grille. The company also skips the chrome garnish on the wide horizontal stripes that create a V-shaped motif around the brand logo on this panel. At the rear, it omits the Minio Green’s V-shaped motif altogether and uses a gloss black finish instead of body colour on the roof spoiler.

The interior of the VF 2 carries over the design, colour scheme, and materials of the Minio Green. The two-door electric hatchback accommodates four occupants and includes features such as manual AC, a four-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and FM radio with two speakers. On the safety front, VinFast equips the VF 2 with a driver’s airbag, ABS, EBD, and TCS.

Powering the VF 2 is a rear-mounted single motor that develops 30 kW and 65 Nm of torque. VinFast offers Eco and Normal drive modes and claims a top speed of 80 kph. The company uses an 18.3 kWh battery pack that delivers a range of 210 kilometres. Customers can charge it at up to 24 kW, and a 10-70 per cent session takes approximately 34 minutes.

While VinFast typically prices its private-customer models higher than its Green line equivalents, it has launched the VF 2 at a price lower than the Minio Green. The Minio Green retails at 269 million dong (8,953 euros), while the VF 2 costs 188 million dong (6,257 euros). Additionally, the company will offer an 8 million dong (266 euros) discount to customers ordering their VF 2 from 15 and 17 July. It will also include ten complimentary charging sessions per month at V-Green public charging stations across Vietnam until 10 February 2029. The company expects to start customer deliveries in September.
