Back when we first saw the announcement of God of War Laufey, there was a fairly noticeable mixture of reactions online. You had people understandably excited about a new God of War game, those perplexed by the existence of a massive green cube of jelly voiced by Jack Quaid, and you had the not-so-understandable reactions from the usual people that get upset whenever a woman is in a video game.

Plenty of sexist and misogynistic comments cropped up online, as well as deeply strange AI-generated videos of protagonist Faye washing dishes or doing laundry. There aren't many good times to be on social media, but the aftermath of God of War Laufey's announcement certainly wasn't one of the best.

Deborah Anne Woll Isn't Bothered By God Of War Laufey Haters

With a lot of the attention on Faye, and therefore actor Deborah Anne Woll, there was potential for her to be slightly affected by the visceral reactions online, as has happened in the past to other actors of female leads. Thankfully, Woll has taken the reactions in her stride, explaining to a fan at Florida Supercon (thanks GamesRadar) that she's been "totally unbothered" by them.

"I mean, genuinely, I thought I was going to be much more affected by it," says Woll to TikTok user Quinnphobic. "One, I'm not on social media, so that helps. And two, I don't know, I feel totally unbothered because I just know it's great. Like, it’s okay if it’s not your cup of tea, but in no universe is it bad."

You can't argue that not being on social media definitely helps when it comes to avoiding most of the nonsense, though I'm sure it managed to seep in one way or the other. Thankfully, Woll doesn't appear to be taking much notice of it, leaving everyone who has decided to not try what will most likely be another excellent game from Santa Monica to stew in their own misogyny.
