Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls' List Of Blocked Countries Is Slowly Decreasing
Primarily a news writer since 2018, Josh has covered just about every major game from the past decade. Now an editor, their focus has shifted to being the leading affiliate expert at the site, building relationships between TheGamer and global brands including Mattel, Funko, and The Pokemon Company.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is less than a month away, but this final stretch to launch day is being plagued by problems on Steam. The game will be unavailable in more than 100 countries at launch, but there’s a silver lining. That number is slowly going down.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Unblocked On PC In 15 Countries
The list of countries in which Marvel Tokon will be blocked was initially a very long one, with 132 of them named. Not great, as that’s more than half of the countries in which Steam is available. According to SteamDB, that number has now dropped to 117.
That’s 15 more countries in which Marvel Tokon will be playable at launch. No, it’s not much, but at least that number is trending in the right direction. It’s unclear why exactly the list is now a little shorter than it was last week, especially when it’s believed the reason for the list of countries in which Marvel fans won’t be able to play Fighting Souls is PlayStation’s infamous PSN requirements.
Marvel Tokon is a PlayStation-published game that will only be released on PS5 when it comes to consoles. However, its reliance on multiplayer means it has avoided PlayStation’s edict to leave PC releases for its first-party games behind.
It's Believed PSN PC Requirements Are To Blame
That’s the good news. The bad news is that, since it’s a PlayStation-published multiplayer game, even though it's releasing on PC, you are going to need an active PSN subscription to play it. It’s not a service you have to pay for - that’s PS Plus. However, it is one that’s not available in every region.
It hasn’t been confirmed by any official channels, but it’s assumed those pesky PSN requirements are the reason why people in 132 - now 117 - countries have just discovered that they actually won’t be able to play the new Marvel fighting game on the platform of their choice in a few weeks, or at all if they don’t have a PS5.
It’s the same issue that saw Helldivers 2 suddenly delisted in over 150 countries.
The unwelcome reveal prompted a petition, but unfortunately, it hasn’t gained much traction. We first reported on the petition last week when it was at around 2,000 signatures. Only around 700 more people have signed it since then.
Even though the petition isn’t getting enough attention, at least the list of countries in which Marvel Tokon will be blocked is going down. Hopefully that number continues to trend downwards, and the Arc System Works title will be available in as many countries as possible on PC by release day on August 6.
