The Endless Ragnarok expansion in Granblue Fantasy: Relink adds a new way to use Master Points (MSP). Master Traits add new play styles and passive bonuses to every character in the game. While you can't unlock every bonus, there are some combinations that are a must-have for the meta. Below, we'll explain everything you need to know about Master Traits in Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok, from how to get them to how to use them correctly.

How to Unlock Master Traits in Endless Ragnarok

You unlock Master Traits after reaching level 100 on a character and completing the tutorial after you start the Endless Ragnarok DLC quests. This is done after achieving Fatebreaker grade and unlocking Chaos difficulty.

After that, you can spend MSP to raise your Master Trait level for each character at level 100. You'll need a ton of MSP, and the cap rises as you unlock greater difficulties.

There are certain milestone bonuses as well. At Master Trait levels 2, 5, and every 5 levels up to level 50, you will get a bonus to Attack and HP, along with an increased Damage Cap.

You won't be able to raise your Master Traits to level 50 from the start. The level cap goes up each time you unlock a new Chaos difficulty, so Chaos+, Chaos++, and the final one is after you unlock the "Defy Infinity" quests.

Master Trait Bonuses, Explained

Master Traits offer 3 different "Styles" to choose from: Essence, Crux, and Insight. These are different per character, but each Style changes how you play the character.

For example, Fraux's Essence: Allure of Strength Style focuses on Skill Damage and the free skill activations she gets for Strength Gains. This means she will also want to fill her gauge faster.

Each Style has 3 ranks that each give a specific bonus. Each rank also has points you can spend to unlock bonuses that relate to that specific style. The first ranks are pretty generic, with maybe one or two Master Traits that can affect the Style, but the later ranks lean into the Style.

Using Fraux as an example again, her Essence Style Rank 1 has a Master Trait that reduces Skill Cooldown and one that increases Reversed Gauge Gain. Her later Style ranks have Master Traits that increase her Skill Damage cap and affect specific skills in her kit. These can also have synergy with your chosen Transcendent Weapon.

Each rank has 10 total points to spend, and these are shared across all 3 Styles, so you can mix and match. To unlock the Style Rank Passive Boosts, you must allocate a certain number of points to each rank of that style:

  • Style Rank 1: 3 Points Needed
  • Style Rank 2: 6 Points Needed
  • Style Rank 3: 6 Points Needed

This means that you can unlock the Style Rank 1 bonuses for every Style, but you can only pick one Style for the Rank 2 and 3 bonuses.

You will want to pick your favorite play style and make sure you unlock all the passive bonuses for it.

There is a fourth Style Rank EX you unlock from Master Levels 31-50, but they do not have additional passive Rank Boosts.

Tips for Choosing Master Traits

You will want to read each of the Style Rank Perks and look at the Master Traits available for each style. Once you find a play style you like, grab Master Traits that give the most benefit to it.

After that, look at the other Styles because they often spread out the bonuses to make players put points in the others.

Fraux's Essence Style focuses on Skill Damage and Skill Damage Cap Up, but there is a Master Trait in the Crux Style that also increases Skill Damage Cap. Finding bonuses like these in the other styles will allow you to fully optimize your Master Traits to fit your preferred play style.
