Ubisoft admits that 2026 is going to be a quieter year for the studio, with fewer major releases. And considering that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has just launched, we can safely assume that the biggest release is out of the way already, with Ubisoft lying low until 2027.

The good news for fans is that the company is promising that 2027 will be much bigger, with more major releases. The bad news for everyone is that this comes right after it was reported that Ubisoft was laying off more employees - who had just finished working on Black Flag Resynced.

Ubisoft Is Turbulent Right Now, And It's Starting To Affect Its Release Schedule

As spotted by GamesRadar+, Ubisoft acknowledged that 2026 would be a relatively quiet year in its latest financial report.

"The fiscal year 2026-27 line-up will include Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, alongside other targeted premium games based on established Ubisoft brands that will be announced at a later date," the report reads. "The outlook reflects this lighter new release slate, continued investment ahead of stronger releases in fiscal year 2027-28, and restructuring cash costs, partially offset by a solid Live roadmap and strong growth for Rainbow Six Siege."

To translate from corporate speak, this would suggest that Ubisoft's biggest release is already out the door. There will be more "announced at a later date", so we'll have to wait and see what that is, but we're already being warned that many of Ubisoft's projects are aiming for a 2027 release instead.

The report continues to give us a better idea of what to expect after 2026: "The Group expects a significantly bigger content pipeline over fiscal year 2027-28 and fiscal year 2028-29 across its major brands including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Ghost Recon."

We don't know what is next in store for Assassin's Creed, but we can take an educated guess. It was previously reported that Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe was aiming for a 2027 release, so it's possible that this is what Ubisoft is referring to here. We've also been waiting on Far Cry 7 for quite some time, so an update on that is due.

With that said, many projects have been pushed back internally since Ubisoft rolled out mass layoffs. It even outright cancelled a Prince of Persia remake that was rumoured to be launching this year, making 2026 even quieter. Those layoffs haven't slowed down either, as we saw just after Resynced launched.
