iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to offer an especially big leap in camera improvements, and a new leak points to the Main camera being a key highlight this year.

In recent years, Apple has leaned more than ever into the iPhone Pro line offering a truly “pro” camera system.

For this year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has been hinting at big upgrades coming. He said recently that iPhone 18 Pro will offer “some of the biggest camera hardware upgrades in the lineup’s history.”

However, based on the few rumored new features, it’s been unclear what might merit such a big claim.

Today though, Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital has a new post that provides some hints.

He says the iPhone 18 Pro line’s Main camera upgrade is “confirmed” and results in a more than 2mm increase in the “aluminum alloy back panel.”

In other words, the camera plateau may be getting even thicker this year than what had previously been rumored.

Why such a significant increase? In a follow-up post, the leaker says it’s due to an “Enlarged main camera module.”

Though we still don’t know full details, apart from a widely rumored variable aperture feature, it sounds like iPhone 18 Pro’s Main camera will have much larger internal components than iPhone 17 Pro’s camera.

And these new leaks, combined with Gurman’s recent hints, point to some especially big Main camera improvements coming for users.
