Ford Pro delivers 131 electric vans to BVG

Ford Pro will deliver a total of 131 battery-electric vans to Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) by the end of 2026. The vehicles will be used for maintenance, service, and transport operations across Berlin's public transport network.

Ford Pro has delivered 49 E-Transit Custom and 82 E-Transit battery-electric vans to Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG). According to Ford Pro, the vehicles have been adapted to suit a range of operational requirements in public transport, including maintenance, service, and material transport across Berlin.

The E-Transit Custom is equipped with a battery offering a usable capacity of 64 kWh and a power output of 100 kW. Its combined WLTP range reaches up to 331 kilometres, with up to 443 kilometres achievable in urban traffic. The larger E-Transit features a 68 kWh battery, a power output of 135 kW, and delivers up to 317 kilometres in the combined WLTP cycle, or up to 403 kilometres in urban traffic. Depending on the configuration, a loading volume of up to 15.1 cubic metres is available.

The new battery-electric vans will support BVG’s ongoing electrification strategy. At the end of June, the company commissioned a DC fast-charging station for electric buses at Marzahn S-Bahn station. In parallel, BVG is continuing to expand its charging and depot infrastructure. By 2027, an additional 270 battery-electric buses are set to be procured, increasing the number of electric buses to around 550. This would mean roughly one-third of the bus fleet, which comprises around 1,500 vehicles, would be electric.
