Kia launches the EV2 Long Range and GT-Line
The EV2 went on sale earlier this year in the UK and across Europe as Kia’s smallest, most affordable pure-electric vehicle.
Kia opened orders for the EV2 First Edition, starting at £26,995 ($36,500), including the UK Government’s £1,500 ($2,000) Electric Car Grant (ECG). In Germany, the base EV2 starts at €26,600 ($30,500).
The EV2 First Edition uses a 42.2 kWh battery, providing a WLTP driving range of up to 190 miles (317 km).
Kia said in April the EV2 with the smaller (42.2 kWh) battery was being produced in Slovakia, with the Long Range (61 kWh) battery and GT-Line set to follow in June 2026.
The Long Range version, which is now on sale, uses a larger 61 kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 281 miles. On Kia’s German website (and several other European markets), the EV2 Air is available starting at €33,490 ($38,300) with a WLTP range of 281 miles (453 km).

It’s also available in GT-Line and Black-Line variants, both with the 61 kWh battery, starting at €36,890 ($42,200) and €40,890 ($46,800), respectively.
In the UK, the EV2 Air with the 61 kWh battery is priced from £27,995 ($37,700), not including government incentives. The GT-Line starts at £32,745 ($44,100), and the GT-Line S starts at £36,345 ($49,000).

The 42.2 kWh battery variants are equipped with a single front-mounted electric motor with 144 hp (107.8 kW).
The larger 61 kWh battery variant uses a “slightly detuned” 135 hp (99.5 kW) front motor to maximize efficiency.

During the NAF’s Summer El Prix EV test last month, the Kia EV2 standard range model with a 42.2 kWh battery drove 325 km (201 miles) on a single charge, beating its WLTP range rating of 308 km (191 miles).
According to Kia, the EV2 ranked “first among all compact and mid-size electric vehicles tested, confirming its class-leading real-world efficiency.”
A long-range EV2 GT-Line prototype was also tested during the event, achieving 428 km (265 miles), or 102% of its expected WLTP combined range figure.
