Porsche reportedly plans leadership change in production division
According to Handelsblatt, citing sources within the company and supervisory board circles, Porsche’s Head of Production, Albrecht Reimold, is expected to step down earlier than planned. The supervisory board is due to make a final decision at its meeting on 22 July.
The move would come only a few months after Porsche reshuffled its executive board, with Michael Leiters succeeding Oliver Blume, who now concentrates exclusively on his role as CEO of the Volkswagen Group. Leiters is already facing considerable pressure as Porsche contends with weak sales in China and a high cost base.
According to sources cited by the business magazine, Reimold is expected to leave because ‘the new Production Chief is expected to present the sports car manufacturer’s future strategy alongside the rest of the leadership team at the Capital Markets Day on 7 October.’ The leading candidates to succeed him are reportedly Wolfram Kirchert, Head of Volkswagen’s Bratislava plant, and Christian Friedel, who currently leads quality assurance at Porsche.
Porsche declined to comment on the reported personnel changes when contacted by Handelsblatt.
