Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Devs Have Heard Your Hidden Blade Complaints
George is an expert on platformers, action games, and fighters, but tends to play as many releases as possible. This hands-on experience lets him dive into gaming communities and follow the latest trends.
Some of the games George has extensively covered first-hand include Dead Rising, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Ninja Gaiden 4.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s game director has confirmed that the team is listening to the community about the controversial removal of Hidden Blade combat.
For the most part, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a faithful and frankly stunning remake of one of the most beloved games in the series. That being said, Resynced does have its fair share of new content and changes, some of which have been pretty divisive and viewed as a downgrade from the original.
Outside of the heavy emphasis placed on microtransactions and the grindy hunting, the most controversial change that Resynced makes from the original game is the complete removal of the fan-favourite Hidden Blade combat. Fans have made their thoughts very clear, and Ubisoft has now confirmed that it’s actively listening to the complaints.
Black Flag Resynced Director Says Hidden Blade Combat Complaints Are Being Listened To
He Can’t Make Any Promises, Though
As pointed out by Twitter user AccessTheAnimus, YouTuber JorRaptor recently had the chance to chat with Black Flag Resynced’s game director, Richard Knight. The interview mostly focused on the game’s post-launch support and revealed a bunch of content that Ubisoft has planned for Resynced’s roadmap.
That sadly doesn’t include a Freedom Cry remake, although the team has “more to say” about Edward.
One of the most interesting parts of the interview is when Knight is asked about the removal of the original game’s Hidden Blade combat, which let Edward fight with the blade instead of just using it for takedowns. Knight said that the team knew from the start that combat “had to change” and that they had to prioritize certain elements.
When asked whether there’s a chance that Hidden Blade combat could be added back in as part of a post-launch update, Knight said that he couldn't make any promises, but that the team is listening to the community and would like to hear “what people want the most”. Since Hidden Blade combat is one of the big ones, that does give it a fair shot.
Outside of that, Knight also confirmed that New Game Plus, catching a ledge, and the much-requested ability to hide the blowpipe are all already in the works for a future update. While Resynced may not quite reach the same level of support as Shadows, it sounds like Ubisoft is at least trying to react to what the community wants to see.
