How to Get Crude Oil in Palworld
In Palworld, Crude Oil can be obtained in three ways: loot Supply Drops, setup Crude Oil Extractors, and hunt Kikits. Among these three options, setting up extractors is the best way to get Crude Oil in Palworld, but it is also the most complex method of the available options. Crude Oil becomes a much-needed resource later in the game, and if you want to make any of the early lategame items, you'll need to secure a steady supply of oil.
How to Make Crude Oil Extractors in Palworld
You can make Crude Oil Extractors once you reach level 50, where the recipe for this base building becomes available for purchase through the Technology screen. Once you unlock it, you'll then need the following materials:
- 250 Pal Metal Ingots
- 50 Circuit Boards
You can make Pal Metal Ingots in Palworld after unlocking its recipe in the tech tree, and by combining Ore with Pure Quartz and Paldium in an Electric Furnace or better. Meanwhile, Circuit Boards are made with Polymer and Pure Quartz at a Production Assembly Line.
You can get Pure Quartz by exploring the Astral Mountain to the northeast and breaking Quartz nodes there.
After you get the materials you need to make a Crude Oil Extractor, you'll then need to find an oil deposit somewhere in the world. There are plenty of good places to get Crude Oil in Palworld, so take your pick and set up a new base there. You'll need to supply your extractor with enough power to keep it going. Make sure to use a Pal with a high Generating Electricity skill.
Hunting Kikits
Kikits can be found along the Sakurajima's Southern Sandbar area. These are armadillo-like Pals that will drop Crude Oil when slain. Killing Kikits is a good way to get Crude Oil in Palworld, but it's also the most demanding since you'll actively be hunting. I would only recommend doing this if you have an immediate need for a small amount of Crude Oil. Otherwise, just stick to Crude Oil Extractors and do something else while the machines do their thing.
While you can technically breed Kikits at one of your bases and slaughter them for Crude Oil, I find that this is just as much of a hassle as the method above. Extractors are still better at producing Crude Oil passively, and if you're going to kill Kikits anyway, you might as well skip the breeding process altogether (and maybe consider increasing Pal spawn rates in your World Settings).
Supply Drops
In my experience, most (if not all) of the Supply Drops I've opened contained a few units of Crude Oil. They take very little effort to loot, and you can also adjust their spawn rate at the World Settings menu too. Still, this isn't the most reliable way to get Crude Oil in Palworld, and it's better to treat Supply Drops as nice little bonuses that you can get while you're exploring the world instead of an actual source of materials.
