Palworld 1.0 trailer showcased lots of new Pals and gimmicks, and among everything showcased, something drew the attention of the fans: The Fish Sword. This sword is actually a Katana that can be obtained by using a particular Pal's ability: Fish Fillet, from Skutlass.

If players want to learn how to use this ability and how to wield the Skutlass Katana, then they better take note of this guide with indications on how to find Skutlass in Palworld.

How to Find Skutlass in Palworld

Skutlass is a fish Pal added wth Palworld 1.0 that can be found on the coasts near the Twilight Dunes (near the Anubis Boss Location), it will be around level 30, and players need at least a Giga Sphere to catch it.

This Pal's ability is called Fish Fillet, which causes Skutlass to become the player's katana (Fish Sword) when activated. The weapon can perform fast, powerful combos, causing 2600 damage per impact (at level 1), so it's a tremendously powerful weapon. However, it has a drawback: If the ability is not deactivated within 5 seconds, Skutlass will be incapacitated.

Now, here are some important details about the Fish Fillet ability you should know about:

  • The time you can use the Katana without incapacitating Skutlass can be extended by improving this Pal's Rank (using the Pal Essence Condenser). The more the skill level grows, the longer players will be able to use this powerful weapon, and the stronger it becomes.
  • There's an alternate version of this pall called Skutlass Ignis, and its Seared Fish Fillet ability will actually turn into fire Damage Instead, hitting for 2900 per hit. Same rules apply here: If you don't disengage the ability before 5 seconds have passed, Skutlass Ignis will be incapacitated.

How to Use Fish Sword (Katana) in Palworld

The Fish Sword Katana can be used directly by sending out Skutlass and pressing F (on PC). Skutlass will fall to the ground, and players will be able to wield its spine as a sword for a brief time before it gets incapacitated.

Deactivating the ability by pressing F again will cancel the effect, and this weapon will enter a 60-second cooldown. Once this time passes, players can reactivate the ability to cause massive damage once again, then deactivate it to prevent Skutlass from dying.
