India: JBM EV secures order for 500 electric buses
According to the MoU, JBM EV will supply 500 electric buses to Drivn in phases over the next twelve months. The company has not revealed which models are included in the order, but says the initial batches will be luxury intercity coaches.
JBM EV offers a wide range of electric buses in India, covering multiple segments and applications. It may use the Galaxy e12, a 12-metre model, for the luxury intercity coaches ordered by Drivn. A 250 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor powers the Galaxy e12, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 80 km/h. JBM EV has not disclosed the battery pack’s cell chemistry, energy storage capacity or driving range. It only states a daily operational range of 1,000 kilometres.
The company offers three versions: Seater, with 49 seats; Sleeper, with 30 sleeper berths; and Hybrid, combining 20 sleeper berths and 20 passenger seats. It equips the Galaxy e12 with features such as an automatic in-swing door, a kneeling mechanism, seats with calf support, reading lamps and USB charging ports. It uses air suspension on both axles for greater comfort and has made provisions for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to enhance safety.
Last week, JBM EV unveiled the next-generation Galaxy e12 with a new look and slightly different specifications. The company uses a 235 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor in the latest model. The Seater and Sleeper versions have the same configuration, but the Hybrid version features 20 sleeper berths and 24 passenger seats, increasing passenger capacity to 44.
Commenting on the new deal with Drivn, JBM EV Chairman Nishant Arya said, “India witnessed a growth of 40% in e-bus registrations in H1 CY2026 with 2,944 bus registrations across various states under the PM E-Bus Sewa and PM E-Drive schemes. This partnership with Drivn comes in at an opportune time aptly complimenting the growing momentum in India’s e-bus deployment.”
JBM Auto ventured into electric buses in 2018, and to date has deployed more than 3,500 e-buses, which have collectively clocked more than 450 million kilometres and served 1.5 billion commuters. The company expects its cumulative deliveries to reach 5,000 units within the next twelve months.
