LEGO Fan Transforms 3-in-1 Playful Puppy Set Into Super Mario's Goomba With Free Instructions, No Extra Pieces
Andrea loves games where she's tasked with thinking strategically. She has an obscene amount of hours in Path of Exile (almost 8,000 on Steam), over 2,000 hours in Destiny 2, probably around 10,000 hours in Pokemon games, which she always completes the Pokedex of and tries to fill the shiny Pokedex too, 100% completion in multiple RPGs of various kinds, like Borderlands 2 and 3, Oblivion (and Oblivion Remastered), she plays MMOs religiously (especially World of Warcraft), and she has a vast experience in playing and building decks for Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon TCG Pocket, and Disney Lorcana.
Andrea has extensive professional experience as a translator and ghostwriter. She has a BA in Psychology from 2015, a Master's Degree in Communication & Translation from 2016, and a Master's Degree in Copywriting & Advertising from 2019.
One of Andrea's favorite articles for GameRant is about Pokemon Violet probably outselling Pokemon Scarlet, which is what happened. One of the articles she's most proud of is about The Last of Us 2's Ellie and the game's perpetual cycle of revenge.
A LEGO fan shared their new custom Goomba build from the 3-in-1 Playful Puppy set inspired by the iconic Super Mario enemy, including the free instructions video on YouTube. One of the perks of LEGO is that fans can make whatever they want with the bricks, provided they have a vision and the pieces they need. This is such a core concept for the Danish company that not only are there MOC (My Own Creation) videos and posts online daily, but also the LEGO Ideas brand comes directly from fans making unique sets and LEGO bringing them to life.
A great example is how a fan transformed LEGO's D&D set into a custom build with new monsters, and it was the same person who came up with the original LEGO D&D concept in the first place. So far, there have been several LEGO Super Mario sets, and while some include a small Goomba, no current release is fully dedicated to the mushroom-like creatures. For those interested in having an accurate and very cute Goomba build, though, that ends now, as a fan managed to turn a Creator set into the Super Mario monster, and everyone can do the same with free instructions.
Custom LEGO Super Mario Goomba Build From 3-in-1 Playful Puppt Set
A LEGO fan by the name of Adept_Tap1790 shared a post on Reddit with their newly built Goomba from Super Mario, which they built with the video instructions from content creator Atelier Piccolo on YouTube. The build is seemingly very simple, and yet extremely cute and detailed, using the puppy's sparkly eyes to make it even more realistic. On top of that, the build comes with a little flower made from the puppy's collar and bone, and one could argue it resembles the Fire Flower from the Nintendo series.

This is not the first custom build coming out of the 31382 Playful Puppy LEGO set, and it shows how creative some fans can be. Another fan transformed LEGO's 3-in-1 Puppy set into two capybaras with free instructions, sharing the build on Reddit a while ago. In the case of Atelier Piccolo, the build requires a total of 131 steps to put together entirely from the pieces of the 3-in-1 Playful Puppy set, and fans can watch the 5-minute video on their YouTube channel to make the build themselves. On top of that, the Goomba can have different eyes for multiple facial expressions, again only using pieces from the original set.
The avalanche of LEGO sets coming this year is not stopping, and more Super Mario-related sets are on the way. For example, a new $200 Donkey Kong arcade LEGO set leaked online. It's built like an old arcade machine, complete with Mario dodging barrels thrown at him by Donkey Kong, and it comes with the iconic arcade controls, too. This is yet another set scheduled for August 1, which will see a plethora of new additions to the LEGO store.

Yet, MOCs will always have a huge following on social media platforms, as they can be inspirational for something entirely new, or they can lead fans to replicate something they see online. Recently, a LEGO fan shared an incredible Bowser MOC from Super Mario, and while there's an official set for the iconic villain, nothing is stopping builders from making their own.
