Monster Hunter Wilds is continuing its long road to redemption. After what could only be described as a disastrous launch, marred by bugs, performance issues, and stalling sales, during Summer Game Fest last month, Capcom revealed the game's first major expansion.

Like Iceborne and Sunbreak before it, Ascendance is due for release in 2027, promising new monsters, including fan-favorite Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung and nuisance Kushala Daora, plus new quests and a new area.

Ahead of that launch, however, Capcom has promised to "streamline" Wilds' available offerings. It's doing that by removing three bundles and adding three more, which doesn't seem very streamlined. Alongside this, the game is set to receive its first permanent price reduction.

Monster Hunter Wilds Is Losing Three Editions, Gaining Three More, And Getting A Price Reduction

"Hunters, we are streamlining the available options for new and returning hunters joining Monster Hunter Wilds," reads a new post on social media. "We plan to discontinue sales of some of our existing bundle products and release new value bundle products. These changes will be implemented starting Aug 3, 5pm PT/Aug 4, 1am BST."

The bundles Capcom will be discontinuing are the Monster Hunter Wilds Deluxe Edition, Premium Deluxe Edition, and the Cosmetic DLC Pass. These will be replaced by three new bundles:

  • Monster Hunter Wilds Gold Edition: Includes Base Game plus Monster Hunter Wilds Cosmetic DLC Collection.
  • Monster Hunter Wilds Cosmetic DLC Collection: Includes a bundle of 10 DLC Packs (including the Monster Hunter Wilds Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack).
  • Monster Hunter Wilds Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack: Includes select paid cosmetic DLC only previously available as standalone products.

Depending on the pricing and how much you care, this could prove good value, given some cosmetic packs cost as much as $24.99.

Both the Gold Edition and Cosmetic DLC Collection will include the Deluxe Pack, Cosmetic DLC Packs 1-4, Blossomdance DLC Pack, Flamefete DLC Pack, Dreamspell DLC Pack, Lumenhymn DLC Pack, Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack, and a Premium Bonus. The Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack will include only the last two.

It all seems a little confusing for something that is supposed to be "streamlining" the options for consumers.

Capcom will be hoping this, the upcoming Ascendance DLC, and the semiregular updates it rolls out will cement Monster Hunter Wilds' turnaround. The reception for the game has been improving, sitting at a "Mostly Positive" 70 percent on Steam; however, this pales in comparison to the series' two previous major entries.
