Solo Leveling Officially Confirms A New Romance For Sung Jinwoo
Solo Leveling is a beloved series that especially focuses on the main character Sung Jinwoo, the World's Strongest Hunter, and a character who, by the end of the story, stands above all in power. With so much focus on action, it's not every day that Jinwoo gets a romantic moment.
His romance plotline with Cha Hae-In was built up greatly in the original timeline; however, in Solo Leveling Karma, which covers the events of the 27 Year Monarch War, the clock is rewound, and Jinwoo's relationship with Cha goes back to zero. Even though Jinwoo remembers her, she does not. While Jinwoo spends 27 years fighting in solidarity, he eventually goes back to South Korea and ends up with Cha as an official couple. Solo Leveling Karma’s current ongoing short manga, called “Moments in Between,” reveals the ongoing romance between the two, even despite the resetting of the timeline.
Solo Leveling Karma’s Short Comic Reveals A Newborn Romance Between Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In
Solo Leveling began its journey as a novel by Chugong, but eventually, it was turned into a manhwa in 2018 thanks to Reduce Studio. The manhwa only elevated the action from the novel to another level, and consequently, it became the best-selling manhwa series of all time, maintaining its popularity right up until the end. The ending of the Solo Leveling novel and manhwa is especially intriguing as it ends rather unexpectedly. While Jinwoo does go on and defeat Antares, his strongest enemy, by the end of the story, he is dissatisfied with what he has accomplished due to the many deaths along the way that he couldn’t prevent. To that end, in Solo Leveling manhwa chapter 177, Jinwoo asks the Rulers to do him a favor and to use the Cup of Reincarnation to rewind time once more and give him the chance to fix everything he did wrong.
As such, Jinwoo is thrust back into a teenage body. While he keeps his memories, not everyone does. All his closest friends and allies, who include his family and even Cha Hae-In, forget what he truly was. Cha specifically doesn't know Jinwoo from the get-go in Solo Leveling's new timeline. Consequently, the two of them have to meet all over again and build their love from scratch.
This new romance between Sung Jinwoo and the new timeline Cha Hae-I is one that many fans definitely wish was explored more in the novel and manhwa. After all, this is the romance that finally flourishes and ends up in a marriage between the two, as well as with them having a son, named Sung Suho.
Luckily for fans, Solo Leveling is releasing short stories as a series known as “Moments in Between.” Moments in Between first began with Episode 1 on June 24, 2026, and recently, Moments in Between Episode 2 was released on July 8. In it, we finally got to see Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In share a moment after the time rewind. Cha’s main quirk with Jinwoo was always her ability to smell his scent, and this was brought back in this one-page story.
Even though Cha isn't yet aware of Jinwoo, she smells a scent that she considers familiar. This is a moment of her briefly remembering the past timeline. As we have seen with other characters, it is possible for them to get some of their memories back. This means that even though Cha Hae-In does not know Jinwoo yet in this timeline, her feelings are already there, even if she isn't yet fully aware of them.

Jinwoo And Cha Hae-In’s Romance Cements Itself as the Most Iconic In Solo Leveling
When it comes to romance in Solo Leveling, there isn't much to go on about. After all, Sung Jinwoo's story was never meant to be one focused on romance, and the main appeal of Solo Leveling was always its action and its heated battles. Sung Jinwoo's demeanor is usually cool and collected, and because of that, romance doesn't always find its place in the story. However, he still had a flourishing romance with Cha Hae-In, and undoubtedly, this romance is the most developed and well explored in the whole story.
Jinwoo and Cha first meet in the Solo Leveling manhwa chapter 65. She comes across him during an A-Class Dungeon Raid, and his scent immediately catches her attention. From there onwards, they enjoyed a slow-burn romance that we got a sneak peek of every once in a while. Their romance would only become official in Solo Leveling Chapters 190 and 191 of the Manhwa, when it was revealed that the two eventually got married and had a child. The core of it was, however, glossed over, but their relationship would get explored more in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, where we get to follow the story of their only son, Sung Suho.
Cha Hae-In even gets more moments to shine in Ragnarok, which makes it quite an exciting sequel, even though Chugong has stated that the story itself isn't a continuation of his timeline in Solo Leveling. Ragnarok is in its own timeline, one that is separate and created by another author, but brilliant nonetheless.
Solo Leveling Karma Is Setting Up New Romantic Scenes Between Jinwoo And Cha Hae In
Solo Leveling Karma is a new game by Netmarble Studio, and it's planned to be released in late 2026 on PC and mobile. It is because of this game that we are getting the short manhwa series “Moments in Between” as an advertisement for the upcoming exciting storyline that has the involvement of Chugong, the original author himself.
The Solo Leveling Karma game takes place during the 27-year Monarch War, where Jinwoo is in solitude for 27 years and hopes to achieve the ultimate goal of defeating all the Monarchs with no human blood shed. Because of that, we are not likely to see much of the other characters until the end of the story, where Jinwoo exits the dimensional crack and is able to return to the normal world. Despite that, we might still get some moments between Jinwoo and Cha.
It has already been confirmed that Solo Leveling Karma will unleash corrupted versions of Jinwoo's closest friends and allies. These corrupted versions are created by Antares, and we are sure to see a version of Cha Hae-In. This means that Sung Jinwoo will have to fight Cha and potentially even kill her. This will be a hard battle for Jinwoo, but it could bring us new moments between the two and explore more of Jinwoo's feelings toward her.
Regardless, we are excited for the game to release and are awaiting an exact release date to be unveiled soon enough. For now, we can continue reading Solo Leveling: Moments in Between, as the short manhwa releases a new episode every couple of days. Hopefully, we see more Cha and Jinwoo-centered content moving forward.
