Gamecity Hamburg announces second round of prototype funding
Studios and startups can apply for up to €80,000 in non-repayable grants from September 4 to 24, 2026
Gamecity Hamburg has announced that its second round of funding for prototypes will open this September.
From September 4 to 24, small and medium-sized studios, founders, and start-ups can apply for non-repayable funding up to €80,000, with a total of €180,000 available.
Prototypes demonstrating "compelling market potential" are eligible.
This round, two new members join the awarding committee: Nora Klutzny (producer at Off the Beaten Track) and Paul Taaks (Overhype Studios co-founder and creative director).
The committee also includes Dennis Schoubye (Head of Gamecity Hamburg), Nina Müller (VP of Publishing & Development Services, Goodgame Studios) and Valentina Birke (Director of Indie Arena Booth/Super Crowd Entertainment).
"With this year's second round of funding, we're helping developers launch game projects in Hamburg," said Schoubye.
"We're pleased to welcome Nora Klutzny and Paul Taaks [to the committee], who will enrich the selection process with their market expertise.
In May, Gamecity Hamburg announced the recipients of its first round of funding.
Five games received grants: Manor Cartographer by Pipapo Games and Odem by Odd Zeroes (€80,000 each), Welken by Studio Gutheil (€60,000), Ungradable: Twisted Card Grading by Chasmic Drop Studio (€48,000), and Wrong Horse by Bird Outside Studio (€40,000).
Pipapo Games, Chasmic Drop Studios, and Bird Outside Studios previously participated in Gamecity Hamburg's Lift Incubator.
