The easiest way to get Leather passively in Palworld is by making a Leather farm, which you can do by placing Surfent in a Ranch. Surfent is a common Pal that you can catch even in early-game areas, so this method is accessible even for new players. Other than making a Leather farm in Palworld, you can also get Leather by catching, killing, or butchering certain Pals, or buying them from a merchant in specific locations.

Leather Farm In Palworld (Leather Ranch)

If you haven't done so yet, make sure to catch one or four Surfent from its habitat. Next, build a Ranch and assign the Pal to begin grazing.

After a while, the Surfent will drop Leather, which you can pick up manually or transport by having Pals with a Transporting Work Suitability.

You can aim for a Pal with the Service-Minded or Lavish Hospitality Passive Skills, which increase the dropped items by 50% or 100%, respectively.

How To Get Leather In Palworld

If you've been grinding Gold, then you can also buy Leather from a merchant. The easiest seller you can find in Palworld is waiting in one of the houses in the Small Settlement (73, -486). Each Leather costs 200 Gold, and you can buy an infinite number of them.

Don't forget to bring Pals with Noble and Fine Furs Passive Skills to affect the price when selling or buying items. Noble changes the price by 5%, whereas Fine Furs changes it by 3%. These effects can stack, meaning a party of five Pals with both traits can earn you a 40% discount when buying items. Something I wish I had tried sooner.

You can catch the Wandering Merchant and assign it as a Base Pal if you're bored with going back and forth.

If you're not into trading, you can always catch, kill, or butcher Pals to farm Leather. A lot of Pals drop Leather, such as:
